Brown Meaning Not Black

I was watching an Indian comedian on Comedy Central a few nights ago. He wasn’t really that funny, but that’s beside the point. I was bothered by him constantly referencing Middle Eastern people as Brown. See that’s where this whole using a color to categorize race thing gets confusing. I could have sworn that not too long ago Hispanics were categorized as the brown skinned race; whatever happened to that? Not that that made any sense either, just wondering. I guess anything is better than black, ooh no, they don’t want to be lumped into that demographic, bet they’d rather be categorized as purple.

Funny thing is, if we’re racially categorizing people by skin color black people aren’t black they’re brown; yet, so are Middle Easterners and Hispanics. Aren’t Asians classified as yellow? Yeah, I almost forgot that there are yellow black people too. Wait, how can somebody be yellow and black at the same time? It’s a miracle I guess.
